Who we are

Service Notifications is an add-on style integration and iPhone companion app that links your ServiceM8 account to our backend so we can deliver push notifications you configure. The service is operated independently and is not affiliated with ServiceM8 Limited.

This policy describes how we handle personal data when you use the iOS app, activate the add-on in ServiceM8, or visit our hosted web pages at notification-app-2024.web.app.

Data we process

Depending on how you use the app, we may process:

  • ServiceM8 account data — account identifiers, vendor name, staff identifiers, and OAuth access and refresh tokens. Tokens are stored on secure backend infrastructure and are not exposed to other users of the app.
  • ServiceM8 business metadata — job, company, schedule, note, attachment, and inbox metadata only as required to evaluate your notification rules and to show alert text. Full record content may be retrieved from ServiceM8 APIs when a specific rule needs it.
  • Authentication data — Firebase Authentication identity (such as email or a federated sign-in subject from Apple or Google) and a per-user profile in Cloud Firestore (preferences, trigger settings, delivery history).
  • Device data — Apple Push Notification / FCM device tokens to deliver notifications to your iPhone, and optional location data when you create location-based reminders (with your permission).
  • Technical logs — webhook delivery attempts, errors, and similar operational records for reliability, debugging, and support. We aim to keep retention proportionate to these purposes.

We do not sell your personal data.

How we use data

We use the data above to:

  • Authenticate you and keep your session secure.
  • Connect and maintain your ServiceM8 OAuth integration.
  • Register and process ServiceM8 event webhooks according to your trigger settings.
  • Send push notifications and optional reminders you configure.
  • Show delivery history and status inside the app.
  • Respond to support requests and improve reliability of the service.

Processors and third-party services

We use sub-processors and APIs to run the service. Their own terms and privacy notices apply to their handling of data:

Retention

We retain data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. If you request deletion or disconnect the add-on, we delete or anonymise associated profile and token data within a reasonable period, except where we must keep limited records for legal or security purposes.

Security

We use industry-standard measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls on backend systems, and separation of user data in Firestore. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure; please use a strong device passcode and protect your ServiceM8 credentials.

Your choices and rights

You can:

  • Turn notification triggers on or off in the app.
  • Disable push notifications in iOS Settings for this app.
  • Disconnect the add-on in ServiceM8 where that option is available.
  • Revoke the app's access via your Apple or Google account settings.
  • Request access, correction, export, or deletion of your Firebase user data by emailing info@speed-cert.com from the address linked to your sign-in.

If you are in the UK or EEA, you may have additional rights under applicable data protection law (such as GDPR). We will respond to verified requests without undue delay.

You are responsible for configuring which notification rules are active and which staff members receive managed triggers.

Children

The service is intended for business users of ServiceM8 and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this page from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy where permitted by law.
